CAFCC: Hon. Ejiogu calls for repeat performance from Rivers United

The Chairman Rivers State House of Assembly Committee On Sports Honourable Tony Ejiogu has urged the players and officials of Rivers United to repeat the kind of display as seen in their 2-0 first leg away win over Bloemfontein Celtic in South Africa on Wednesday 23rd December 2020.

The House Committee Chairman who was part of the Rivers United contingent to South Africa gave this call in a chat media

Two second half goals from Godwin Aguda and Fortune Omoniwari ensured that the “Pride of Rivers” returned to Port Harcourt ahead of the second leg with a their heads held high.

“I am very happy based on what our boys did in South Africa. The performed very creditably,” Rivers State House of Assembly House Committee on Sports Chairman, Tony Ejiogu, said.

“First of all, I want to thank God who led us to South Africa and brought us back home safely.” 

“Special thanks to The Executive Governor of Rivers State Chief Barrister Nyesom Wike for making it possible financially for us to leave Nigeria on the 19th and return to Port Harcourt safely.” 

“Special thanks to the Commissioner for Sports who has all the load on him and at the end of the day came out victorious. Special thanks to the players who worked tirelessly to go all the way from Port Harcourt to South Africa to defeat their opponent and special thanks to the technical crew for all their technical input.”

“The game was very good. Actually, we were on top of the game and I also pray that in the return leg, it will also be the same thing and to God be the glory at the end of the day.”

Rivers United will host Bloemfontein Celtic in the return leg on January 6th 2021 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium by 4pm.
