The Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) Borno state chapter, has in the spirit of Ramadan Kareem, distributed food items to residents of Maiduguri metropolis.
The group it was the only political association that survived and remained functional amongst the numerous others after the 2015 general elections
,it also said it would continue to carry out its activities throughout the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Borno BSO said it had distributed hundreds of bags rice and cartons of sugar, spaghetti and vegetable oil to all members and non-members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 27 local government areas of the state.
The national coordinator of the BSO, Dr Garba Sani, who supervised the distribution of the items alongside the Borno state coordinator, Alkali Aji Kolo, said the idea of reaching out to Buhari supporters during the Ramadan fast was to sustain the solidarity that the new President enjoyed during the elections.
State secretary and facility Manager of the Borno state chapter of the BSO, Alhaji Muhammed Shettima Kuburi, told journalists in Maiduguri that “the distribution of the consumables was specifically handled by the Northeast Coordinator of the BSO, Hajiya Ya’Chillu Baba Jidda, wife of the immediate past Borno SSG, who worked assiduously with patriotic personalities like Engineer Abdullahi Aliyu, who is our director of fund raising.
“As the only group of Buhari supporters existing now, our target is reach out to all members of the BSO in the 27 local government, but in the spirit of Ramadan and carrying all along, we extended the gesture to all that we can reach in the state.
“We have distributed thousands of bags of rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, sugar, Lipton and some token of cash to all beneficiaries”, said the state secretary.
Expressing appreciation at the end of the three days distribution exercise, the BSO director Youth Affairs and Welfare, Muhammad Mustapha, said Borno state would continue to support President Buhari as he steers the affairs of the country even as he pleaded with the number one citizen to always have them in mind in terms of job and distribution of democratic dividends.
