Buhari calls Aregbesola over mother’s death – Presidency

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday commiserated with the Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state over the death of his mother, Saratu Aregbesola, via a telephone conversation from London. Th is was disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu. In a statement issued in Abuja, Shehu said the President sympathised with the governor, describing his mother “as a great woman who was a pillar of discipline to her children.’’

“Th e President said the matriarch of the Aregbesola family deserved great honour for “the sacrifi ces she made to bring up her children on the path of sound moral character and commitment to good reputation.’’ “President Buhari said the governor’s mother contributed immeasurably to the building of a respectable pedigree for her family by raising disciplined and humble children like Governor Aregbesola.

“He prayed that Allah would bless her soul and reward all her good deeds with paradise, and also comfort the family she left behind,” the statement said. Meanwhile, Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has returned from London, United Kingdom, where her husband has been on medical vacation since May this year. August 6, 2017, would make it exactly 90 days since the President left the shores of the country for the United Kingdom to attend to his health.

Th e First Lady joined the ailing President on July 4, 2017, after attending a meeting African First Ladies in Adis Ababa, Ethiopia, on July 2, 2017. Director of Information in the Offi ce of Wife of the President, Mr. Suleiman Haruna, confi rmed that Mrs. Buhari returned to the country in the early hours of yesterday.

He said Mrs. Buhari landed in Abuja and proceeded to Owerri, Imo state, for the annual August Meeting organised by the wife of the state governor. “Yes. I can confi rm that Her Excellency is back. She returned to the country this morning and proceeded to Owerri for a function organised by the state governor’s wife,” he said. Th e July 4, 2017 visit to London was the second visit Mrs. Buhari made since the ailing President embarked on the followup medical vacation.
