Bugaje commends HoS Yem-Esan for integrating NSQ into service

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Executive Secretary, Professor Idris Muhammad Bugaje, Monday, commended the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, for the role she played in the integration of the Nigerian Skills Qualification (NSQ) levels 1 – 5 into the National Scheme of Service as qualification for employment and promotion.

A statement by the head of media, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar, said Professor Bugaje lauded the efforts of the Head of Service and the National Council on Establishment for the NSQ to be integrated into the national scheme of service at their recent meeting in Bauchi.

The statement said, “She deserves our abiding appreciation. Sincerely, she and everyone that contributed to this success deserve to be commended. Getting to the highest ladder of the National Council on Establishment is not an easy task.”

It said “this singular move will encourage Nigerian youth to get up-skilled as opportunities abound in not only the private sector but now the public sector.

“Today’s global economies are driven by skills and many opportunities abound for certified skilled youth in Nigeria and the Diaspora.

“The NSQF is a system for the development, classification, and recognition of skills, knowledge, and competencies acquired by individuals, irrespective of where and how the training or skill was acquired.

“The system gives a clear statement of what the learner must know or be able to do, whether the learning took place in a classroom, on-the-job, or less formally. The framework is the structure within which the NSQs operate.”
