Brothers lands in trouble ‘assault, threat to life’

Two brothers – Steven Nwadike, and Felix Nwadike were docked in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged assault and threat to life.

The Police charged the defendants, who reside at Mende, Maryland with four counts of conspiracy, assault, threat to life and breach of peace on Thursday.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 9 at Olabisi Street, Mende Maryland, Lagos.

Perezi told the court that the complainant, Mr Victor Onoche, went to his building at Olabisi Street, Mende to supervise the renovation work going on there by the defendants.

“Upon arrival the defendants conspired and harassed the complainant with abusive words.

“They assaulted him by pushing him on the forehead and threatened to eliminate or kidnap him and his children just like that,’’ Perezi said.

He alleged that they kept insulting the complainant and shouting on top of their voices causing a breach of peace in the area because they could not reach an agreement of the particular amount to be paid to them.

The prosecutor said that it was as a result of the threat to life and kidnap of his family that the complainant brought a letter of petition addressed to the area commander.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 56, 168(d), 172 and 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Tanimola ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.

She adjourned the case until August 18, 2023 for further hearing.
