The Court of Appeal, Abuja jurisdiction, Friday evening, sacked 11 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from the state House of Assembly.
The appellate court, in a unanimous, but abridge lead judgement, delivered by Justice Okon Abang, held that all the sacked lawmakers, scored wasted votes at the time of the March 2023 general election.
The court had in similar previous judgement, held that the PDP failed to comply with subsisting court order, to conduct legal congresses, as they violated section 177 of the constitution, hence cannot sponsor candidates for elections.
Justice Abang, while separately, sacking the 11 PDP lawmakers, said section 134 of the electoral act is applicable, hence all votes accrued to the PDP, were wasted votes.
Those sacked were: Hon Timothy Dantong,-Riyom, Hon. Rimyat Nanbol,- Langtang North Central, Moses Sule,- Mikang, Salome Waklek,-Pankshin, Hon. Bala Fwangji,-Mangu South, Hon. Maren Ishaku,-Bokkos, Hon. Dagogot,- Quaanpan North, and Nannim Langyi,-Langtang North North, respectively.
Others were: Nimchak Rims, Langtang South, Hon. Danjuma Azi, Jos North West, Gwottson Fom, Jos South, and Hon. Abubakar Sani idris, Mangu North,
constituencies, respectively.
In replacing the sacked lawmakers, the court returned, Dachung Moses,-APC, Riyom, Daniel Nanbol Listic, LP,-Langtang North Central, Daniel Na’along,-APC, Mikang, Laven Denty, APC,-Pankshin, Kwarpo, APC,-Mangu South, Wallangko Sylvester,APC,-Bokkos, Nankot…APC,-Quaanpan North, Abel Nanak Nimchak,APC,-Langatang North North, respectively.
Others returned were: Nanchwat Bendel Langatang South, Sunday Mark,-Jos North West, Dalyop Isaac Gyang-Jos South, and Hon. Abdul Yanga-Mangu North, Constituencies respectively.
Meanwhile, the Court has adjoined judgement into the appeal of Dickson Chollom, APC against Joe Philip, of the PDP, to Saturday November 25, 2023.
Similarly, judgement into the appeals of filed by Theodore Maiyaki, APC, vs Cornelious of PDP, for QuanPan South State Constituency, is slated for same day by 2pm.
