Bomb scare rocks Kano House of Assembly, others

People working in the Audu Bako Secretariat in Kano, where Kano State House of Assembly is located, were yesterday thrown into confusion, as they had to take to their heels, following speculations of a diffused bomb.

An eyewitness told Blueprint that in the afternoon, there was a presence of an anti-bomb police squad in strategic places at Audu Bako Secretariat, which was latter rumored to have diffused a bomb planted near Kano State House of Assembly complex.
But when contacted, the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police dismissed as mere rumor the speculation.

The secretariat houses Kano State Assembly, Ministries of Justice, Finance, Environment, State Civil Service, among others.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Magaji Musa Majiya, described the speculation as an attempted rumor by some disgruntled elements to disrupt “the peace the state has been enjoying for some months now”.

He said people should go about their normal businesses, “and forget about such speculations”.
Investigation shows that when the information started making round at the secretariat workers were directed by their superiors to vacate their offices and keep away from the secretariat.
