Unity Bank debit CBN to top Group A

Kaduna Corporate League Cup:

Former champions of the Kaduna Corporate League Cup (KCLC), Unity Bank FC, have continued with their great form with an 8 – 2 massacre of debutants CBN Kaduna in the matchday four of the 7th edition of the annual tournament at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Unity Bank striker, Aliyu Mohammed, scored a hat-trick to take his goals tally in the 2014 edition of the competition to 14, Tukur Abdullahi scored a brace, while Abbas Balarabe, Abubakar Ibrahim and Mohammed Yahaya rifled home a goal apiece in the drubbing. Shehu Suleiman and Aminu Yahaya were on the score sheet for CBN.

In the second match of the group, FCMB and Microcred Microfinance played a 2-2 draw. Babalola and Victor Ogah opened scoring for FCMB, while Microcred rallied back with goals from Michael and Mumuni in the second half.

Unity Bank now top Group A with 10 points from 4 matches, UBA are second with 7 points from 3 matches, FCMB has 2 points from 3 matches, Microcred have 1 points from 3 matches, while CBN are last on the table also with 1 point from 3 matches but with inferior goal difference.

Unity Bank and UBA are already through to the semi finals, while FCMB, Microcred and CBN will battle for the 3rd and 4th position to qualify for the 5th to 8th classification match.
Access Bank and Fidelity Bank have already qualified for the semi finals from Group B.

The last set of preliminary matches will be played on Saturday, which will see UBA face FCMB, while Microcred and CBN will also battle for the third and fourth position in the second match of the day.

Speaking after their loss to Unity Bank, chairman of the CBN team, Mr. Abdulrahman Tom, said it has been fun participating in the tournament. He, however, called on the organisers to include other sports in the annual tournament.
The tournament is organised by Bestworth Brokers and supported by Bestway International and Wadson International.
