The Benue state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Wednesday inaugurated the first-ever “Made in Benue Products Exhibition” at IBB Square, Makurdi.

The event marks a significant milestone in the state’s journey towards economic rejuvenation, self-sufficiency, and industrial growth.

Governor Alia stated that industrialisation is a key agenda in his administration’s blueprint, aiming to reposition Benue state as an economic powerhouse.

He said despite inheriting a landscape of moribund industries, the administration has been working to revive and establish new ones.

He said  the exhibition showcased various products made from local raw materials, demonstrating the potential for harnessing resources to build a sustainable industrial base.

Governor Alia encouraged attendees to promote and patronise local products, helping to build industries that will sustain the economy for generations to come.

He said the event also highlights the administration’s efforts to support local innovation and industrialisation, including providing access to funding and incentives, establishing technical and vocational training centers, and creating an enabling business environment.

Governor Alia called on the federal government, corporate bodies, and public-spirited individuals to lend their support and encouragement to local innovators, adding that investing in local enterprises is key to economic prosperity, community empowerment, and self-reliance.
