Benue state government has decried its inability to access wholly N11billion for the state governor, Gabriel Suswam to complete most of the on-going projects in the state.
The state government hasd requested for N11 billion, which was approved by the state house of assembly but bureaucracy between the capital market and Ministry for Finance approved a paltry N5 billion.
State governor, Gabriel Suswam made this known in a chat with newsmen in Makurdi recently.
He stated that, “my intention was to access these funds and complete all the projects I initiated. But they approved only less than half of what we requested. Yet, I am determined to complete at least, 90% of the projects I started”.
He said though the money is meager, he would ensure some very important projects with priority on reticulation of the Makurdi water works benefits from the bond.
Some of the projects he mentioned that are heart- touching include the Oju-Utonkon road, which is about 85 percent completion; the Afia-Gbeji road, 95 percent completion and Taraku-Naka-Agagbe road, and Ge-Ikyobo- Agbeede- Anshagba roads among others.
Suwsam who also spoke on the on-going face off with labour noted that he would ensure that the issues were resolved so as to pave way for a smooth transition from his administration to the next.
