In commemoration of the 2022 Nigerian Army Day celebration, tears and emotions ran high at the Diesy Home for Special Children Igbogene, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, as the Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA)16 Brigade chapter, led by Mrs Jessica Awolo, visited the home with special kids to make life better for the Bayelsans with special needs.
The humanitarian outreach by NAOWA16 Brigade chapter was part of the activities lined up for the Nigerian Army Day celebration.
Awolo, who led other members during the distribution of the materials, stated that the gesture was borne out of the desire to reach out to the needy and the less privileged in the society.
Appreciating the Army for the kind gesture, the president of the home, Joy Kopu, said the visit would leave unforgettable memories in the children suffering from various illnesses such as kidney disease, HIV/AIDS amongst others.
The Army Day celebration which started Friday July 1 with a Juma’at prayer ends Wednesday July 6, 2022.
