Bauchi establishes mobile court to prosecute offenders of gender cases 

 

The Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, weekend directed the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice to expedite action on the establishment of a mobile court to facilitate timely prosecution of offenders of gender related issues.

The governor stated this when he granted audience to   the committee on Sexual and Gender-based Violence (GBV) under the leadership of the state’s first lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed on advocacy visit at the.  chambers, Government House, Bauchi.

He noted that timely prosecution of the offenders would serve as deterrent to others.

Governor Bala assured that his administration would contin

ue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance the welfare of women and children to eradicate the sexua8⁸l and gender-based violence. 

He commended members of the committee   for their active participation in educating the public on the effects of the abuses, adding that the state government is concerned about the rampant cases of GBV across the state.

He described the advocacy visit as a wake-up call to his administration and vowed to intensify effort by taking the responsibility as the leader.
