Bandits kill 20, cart away hundreds of cattle in Zamfara

Armed bandits suspected to be cattle rustlers, at the weekend, went on rampage killing not fewer than 20 people while several others sustained injuries in an attack on Cigama village of Birnin Magaji local government area of Zamfara state.

According an eye witness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity escaped unhurt, said the hoodlums numbering over 50 invaded the village around 3.30 am, shooting sporadically at anybody at sight which resulted in the death of more than 20 people while many others sustained gun wounds and currently receiving medical attention at different hospitals in the state.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Sanusi Amiru, who declined the give the figure of those killed, said details will be released after the police and the military investigation.
