Bamidele emerges NANS president

Danielson Bamidele of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has emerged new President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
In his maiden address, Bamidele assured that his administration would usher in new ideologies to reposition and restructure the students’ body.
While fielding questions from journalists on how he would address issues of cultism in institutions across the country, he noted that the menace is a major issue that the new NANS would tackle.
He disclosed plans to partner with relevant organisations to launch anti-cultism campaign, adding that the campaigns would also be taken to the grassroots.
In a press briefing after the election in Abuja, immediate past president of NANS, Chinonso Obasi, said the new executive would unite all the perceived factions within the students’ body.
According to the ex-president, both factions prior to the convention that produced the newly elected President, met to unite the party.
“There is no faction; the issue of faction was killed when we had unity convention.
Any group in this organisation that wants to interfere in the affairs is powerless.”
