Plateau state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Leteb Dabang has said that it is illogical to have a total change of the management committees running the 17 local government councils of the state.

This was stated yesterday by the chairman during a media chat at his Jos resident.
He said having appointed persons as management committees to run the councils is not a peculiar thing to Plateau state only, but it is across all states in the country.
“It is very sad that such thing is happening in the Nigerian democracy, but we are sure that elections would be conducted in Plateau state,” he said.
According to Leteb the councils management committees have done very well compared with even some of the past elected chairmen, couple with the numbers of project done by them within the tenure of one and half year.
He said: “I do not see any reason that could warrant the total overhaul or change of the management committees, mindful of the financial situation of the State and the country.

Leteb said the state-led APC government met over N200bn debt, with months of unpaid salaries, and it would be so sad for them to have gone ahead and conducted local elections with the early take-up of the government.
“It would have shown to the people that we are not a sensitive government, not paying salaries and conducting the elections, but now that we have cleared the salaries elections will be conducted,” he assured.
On why Governor Lalong dissolved democratic structures five months on his assumption to office, Leteb said; “they were found working to sabotage the governor’s plans, having left them in office with a promise not to dissolved them, though they belongs to PDP.”

He said it was not a strange thing for the APC led government to dissolve them, saying the past regimes of Michel Botman and Jang did the same in the state.
