APC hails NASS for intervening in Bauchi assembly crisis

Bauchi state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded the House of Representatives for ‘upholding the rule of law and asserting the supremacy of the Constitution’ in handling the leadership crisis of the state House of Assembly.

The commendation is contained in a press statement signed by the state Public Relations Officer of the party, Adamu Ali Jalla.

It would be recalled that the House of Representatives had sent a committee under Musa Sarki Adar to investigate the crisis surrounding the inauguration of the 9th Assembly and the circumstances that led to the emergence of two presiding officers.

The statement observed that rather than complying with the directive of the national assembly, the state Governor Bala Mohammed is allegedly trying to create another round of confusion by directing his eleven stooge members to converge next Monday to repeal a legislation that gives the assembly powers to confirm the appointment of local government caretaker committee chairmen and councillors.

According to the statement, the APC will not relent towards ensuring that the right thing is done on the crisis.

The statement called on security agencies not to allow themselves to be used on the crisis of the assembly, also called on the security agents to respect the position of Nigerian Constitution.
