On the heels of inconclusive ward congresses by the All Progressive Congress (APC), a coalition of youths on the platform of the party, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) citing injustice and lack of internal democracy as reasons.
Addressing a press conference at the weekend in Abuja, the defecting youths on the platform of APC Youth Frontier, said “the APC is run on the basis of fraud, impunity, and propagandist theory, which is aimed at creating a reign of injustice and back stabbing.”
Speaking on behalf of the frontier, National Coordinator of the youth group, Comrade Usman Okai Austin, said the hijack of the party, built by others, by de-camped PDP governors had created “fear and disgruntlement among the youth.”

He said the case was not much different in Lagos and the entire South-west states where none of the sitting governors is the leader of the party, but mostly dictated to by one leader from Lagos, pointing out that the case in Adamawa state was peculiar as, Governor Murtala Nyako who ridiculed, laughed at and waved off the APC, but later cross-carpeted and was made leader of the same party.
“Furthermore, during the last membership registration exercise in Adamawa. Governor Nyako who defected with only his cabinet to APC, hijacked the exercise and denied space to the multitude of people that came from legacy political parties like CPC, ANPP and ACN. The shocker to us came when the leadership of APC at the national level, went ahead to accept the fraud.”
