A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto and spokesman of Yusuf Suleiman Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar, has debunked rumours making the rounds in Sokoto that the former Minister of Youth Development, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, and his supporters would defect to the APC.

Abubakar, who made the denial in an interview with newsmen in Sokoto, said the rumours were being peddled by APC members to cause confusion amongst people of Sokoto state.

He said: “Having realised that they lost popularity and Yusuf Suleiman is set to beat them comes 2015 elections that was why they resorted to cheap blackmail.“Yusuf Suleiman is not a betrayer; he is not like others who bite the finger that fed them.
” He said most of them were at a time in PDP, won elections under the PDP, but now left the party because their personal interests were threatened.

“They are pursuing personal interest not the common man or North as they want us to believe. They were the same people that campaigned and even went extra-mile to twist elections in favour of the same person they are abusing now.”
He said the APC was not a political party but rather a congregation of angry people who wants use ethnicity and religion for selfish end.
