Akinbami submits accounting manual to NPFL board

Chartered accountant and football administrator, Mr Vincent Akinbami, has put together an accounting manual for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board as part of efforts to reposition the League.

The accounting manual, which was presented by Akinbami at the instance of the NPFL Board Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, during an NPFL Staff Retreat in Abuja, was to help the finance department.

Speaking during his presentation of the accounting manual to the league body, Akinbami said, “an accounting manual sets detailed guidelines for the financial department and it’s employees to assist them in ensuring an orderly and efficient management and control of all programme resources and render proper accountability to all stakeholders.

“The manual is concerned with effective financial control over program assets, liabilities income and expenditure together.

“The manual addresses issues of  accounting policies, organizational chart, overview of the finance and account department (responsibilities), cheque issuance, wire transfers, cash disbursement, cash handling, petty cash, fixed asset, payroll, cash book maintenance, general ledger and reporting.”

Following the submission of the accounting manual to the NPFL, which was well received by the league body, Chairman of the League Board, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye, has shown resolve to move away from how things were being done in the past to a more transparent and accountable way of managing the board.
