ActionAid trains over 200 youths on digital space for virtual engagements, advocacy

ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) has trained over 200 youths across the country to empower them in digital space for virtual engagements and advocacy. 

The Country Director of ActionAid Nigeria, Comrade Ene, who was represented by the Governance Manager, Celestine Odo explained that the training is necessary to empower youths in digital space for virtual engagements and advocacy. 

He further explained that ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) in collaboration with ActionAid Denmark (AADK), and Global Platform Denmark (AADK) with funding from Global Platforms as part of series of activities scheduled under the SPA II project.

He said the ongoing 4day training will also improve female participation in practical design tools needed for digital activism and campaigns

He also said the training on digital campaign, digital engagement, and advocacy for change seeks to improve the realisation of basic human and democratic rights and improved, sustainable livelihoods, resilience and protection for young people, especially young women living in marginalisation, including in disaster and protracted crises contexts in Nigeria. 

He called on the need for Nigerian Youths have been charged to develop digital skills for global relevance and self reliance.

Also, the Digital Technology Manager, ActionAid Nigeria, Charlse Petu called on participants to focus on building capacities on the advantages of digital technologies. 

A participant, Idris Yahaya commended ActionAid Nigeria and said he is optimistic the impact will enhance their knowledge of digital programmes that are career driven.
