ActionAid makes case for improved child care delivery in FCT


ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) has taken awareness program for the improvement of birth and child care delivery in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
At a workshop held in Kwali area council, on Tuesday in Abuja, the ActionAid Programme Advisor and Project lead on MATAI, Ubong Tommy explained that the workshop is seeking to improve the health care services as well as facilities to reduce maternal mortality in these communities.
“We are have 5 area councils. Amac, Abaji, Kuje, Kwali and these five area councils have being selected to drive the initiative. From tomorrow we will be training with the women from AMAC, Gwagwalada,Kuje and the Chairman of the area councils has assured that they are ready to support mortality cases.


Addressing the women during the workshop, the lead consultant for ActionAid, Dr. Nihilola Mabogunje said it was important they visit hospital not only for illness but for antenatal check-up, immunisation, family planning and other important issues.
During the interactive section, Dr. Mabogunje asked the women the challenges they face during pregnancy and it was discovered that most of them go through severe  pains like bleeding, retained placenta, malposition of the baby in the womb, hypertension,ulcer and other things. 


She also encouraged service providers in the community to have good facilities in order to address he needs of the women.
Also, a midwife, Esther Aminu lauded the good gesture of ActionAid for the training stating that it will help the women to go to the hospital whenever they feel ill.
