ACF mourns Ghali Na-Abba

Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed sadness over the death of former speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Ghali Umar Na-Abba describing him as a frontline politician and dogged defender of democracy.

Speaking in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Muhammad-Baba on Thursday, ACF said, “it is with sadness that the Arewa Consultative Forum received news of the death of Rt. Honourable Ghali Umar Na-Abba, frontline politician and former Speaker, House of Representatives.

“Late Rt. Honourable Na-Abba contributed immensely to the defence of democracy, participatory governance, and political development when he served as Speaker, House of Representatives. In particular, he will be best remembered for his dodged stance against executive meddlesome in the workings and affairs of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly in general.

“Certainly, his fight was to enrich our democracy, especially against the internal shenanigans of its operators, as well as the attempt to tinker with constitutional provisions on tenures limits in office or to entrench lackeys in the parliament.

“ACF hereby condoles late Rt. Honourable Ghali Na-Abba’s family, government and people of the federation and Kano state, the House of Representatives as well as political associates and friends over this sad loss.

“ACF joins all in praying that Almighty Allah grants the deceased eternal peace in Al-Jannah Firdaus. May Almighty Allah also take good care of the loved ones he left behind.”
