Abia assembly special fund bill passes first reading

The bill to establish a special fund to assist security agencies in Abia state has passed first reading at the Abia state House of Assembly.

The bill was deliberated on Tuesday and the house unanimously passed the reading at plenary.

Stressing its strategic importance, sponsor of the bill, Hon Solomon Akpulonu, who is also Majority Leader of the House, said the bill when passed into law will enhance the operational capacity of security agencies in the state and help to further reduce crime in the state.

After considering contributions by members of the house which all favoured the bill, the Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, who presided over plenary, announced that the bill had passed the first reading based on the vote by members.
