Abducted Imo monarch regains freedom

A former chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and the traditional ruler of Obi Orodo autonomous community in Mbaitoli local government area, HRM Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, who was abducted by gunmen more than a week ago, has regained freedom.

According to the Imo Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Henry Okoye, the monarch regained his freedom Thursday, when the Command’s anti-kidnapping operatives gave his abductors a chase in a forest.

He did not disclose the location of the forest, but said some suspects were arrested.

Meanwhile, on arrival, the monarch’s subjects who heard about his freedom, left all they were doing and headed in their thousands to the main road to receive him, thanking God for keeping him alive for them.

They referred to the traditional ruler as “the real king” of the community as he was being driven to the palace.
