Ebonyi council boss, lawmaker arrested over cult clash

The Ebonyi state Commissioner of Police, CP Awotinde Awoshola, Monday confirmed the arrest of the chairman of Afikpo South local government area, Barr Eni Uduma Chima along with two other stakeholders.

The stakeholders include the member representing Afikpo South East constituency, Hon. Chidi Ejem and a prominent stakeholder from the area.

He said the arrest was as a result of cult clashes in Asaga,Owutu Edda of the local government resulting in the killing of one man identified as Dunk.

The commissioner said, “Yes, there was a clash in Afikpo South, we have arrested the chairman of the local government, one House of Assembly member representing the area and another person.”

“We have dispatched our men there to ensure peace returns and we are still investigating the matter.”

Meanwhile, a source at the area told Blueprint that there was a clash between two cult groups at Asaga Owutu Edda, around 7 – 8:00pm Sunday night revolving around politics.

The source said many persons were injured while a man popularly known as Dunk was found dead in the morning.
