New x-ray unit opens at FUTMINNA

The newly-refurbished x-ray unit at Bosso campus of Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has been commissioned by the vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Abdullahi Bala, at an elaborate ceremony Thursday.

The unit which will cater for the university staff, students and host community, was built by FUTMIN Ventures.

Addressing guests before commissioning the facility, Bala thanked the board of FUTMIN Ventures for providing office accommodation for the x-ray unit, describing their commitment to enhancing staff and students’ welfare as highly outstanding.

The VC applauded FUTMIN ventures for showing the desire to go commercial with the unit.  He however, warned that staff and students of the institution should be given priority because the unit was meant to cater for the university community.

Bala maintained that the commercialisation of the unit was a welcome development due to the fact that the x-ray machines are grossly under-utilised after the admission screening period for fresh students. A situation, he noted, portrayed the unit as a seasonal business outfit.

The VC observed that with the commercialisation drive of the unit, the machine will now be put to use on a daily basis throughout the year.

The university helmsman advised that all safety measures should be put in place, while urging tha proper validation and accreditation exercises are conducted by the appropriate regulatory bodies so that the unit can start operating efficiently.

“We are very much happy with the performance of FUTMIN Ventures Limited, under the leadership of Mallam Aminu Mohammed Ashafa. And we are committed to making sure that we give you all the needed support for you to continue to make progress,” the VC said.

While speaking earlier, FUTMIN Ventures Ltd Director, Malam Ashafa, explained that the flag-off of the project is in line with the school management’s commitment to providing effective healthcare delivery to the entire university community.

“I am proud that FUTMIN Ventures Limited is contributing its own quota to the actualisation of the vice chancellor’s policy of boosting university-community relations. With this lab, staff and students will be saved from inherent stress of patronising other x-ray centres in the state, with their throat-cutting charges and other challenges faced in accessing x-ray services in town. This project is very dear to us and we are committed to uphold professional practices, and to ensure that our customers get huge value for their patronage,” he assured.
