78th Anniversary: Ansar-Ud-Deen Kaduna donates items to prison, inmates, IDP camp

The executive committee members of Kaduna Branch of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS) on Thursday visited Kaduna Convict Prison and IDP camp, Adara Hall, Sabo Tasha, Kaduna to donate several items to the inmates and IDPs.
The visits to the prison and  IDP camp, led by the branch Chairman, Alhaji Liadi Olapade, is part of programmes to mark Kaduna Branch’s 78th anniversary.

The items donated to the prison inmates and the victims of Kajuru crises include used clothing, foodstuff, assorted medicines and toiletries such as bathing soap, washing soap and sanitary pads for the female inmates.

According to the Chairman, Alhaji Liadi Olapade, the visitations was aimed at appreciating the conditions of the prison inmates and the displaced persons and alleviating their condition as part of Da’awa.

“The essence of visiting the prison and the IDP camp is to appreciate what God did because any form of confinement takes lots of sacrifice and endurance.

“We visited the Kaduna prison to be with our brothers and sisters and other inmates ahead of the Ramadan fasting. That you are here does not mean Allah has forgotten you, as we enter here we are all prisoners, the only thing that can set us free is to come out of here and turn our ways for the better. We pray Allah to set all of us free and change us for the better.”

Addressing the inmates at the mosque inside the prison, a cleric from the Society, Malam Mohammed Inuwa Sabo, urged them to see their present condition as Allah’s doing, part of their destiny and a chance to review and change their behaviour and attitude for the better.

Malam Sabo noted that Allah has a purpose for everything and He never forgets any of his creatures.
“No condition is permanent. I believe that not all of you are guilty of the offence for which you are being punished. We pray that you will soon all be free. Ramadan is upon us, it is an opportunity for us all to ask our Lord whatever we want and it would be granted. God knows why he kept you here, maybe its to keep you away from a danger or evil. Keep praying, when he is ready, he will take you out.”

Speaking after presenting items at the Adara Hall IDP camp in Sabo, Alhaji Olapade said, “we appreciate your effort in keeping the IDPs here, Ansar-Ud-Deen will continue to extend our hands of fellowship from time to time as we are with you in spirit. We should promote peaceful coexistence for everybody and preach peace always. If one part is not in peace, the other parts cannot be peaceful. We need peace everywhere and we need to discourage creation of more IDP camps.”
Also speaking, Chairman of Adara Hall IDP camp, Sabo Tasha, Mr Musa Magaji said this is the first time they would be receiving a gift from an organization like Ansar-Ud-Deen, while urging other Islamic and other religious and non religious organisation to also extend their widow’s mite to the camp.

“We want peace in Kajuru and in Kaduna state. We have 2,836 internally displaced persons here. We need building materials to rebuild their houses and return them back home,” Magaji said.
