Alleged N6m theft: Court remands septuagenarian, 3 others in Osun


A Septuagenarian man, Muraina Ishola, and three others, have been remanded in Ilesa prison by an Osogbo Magistrate Court for alleged house breaking and stealing. 

The accused persons are: Muraina Ishola 76, Kolapo Usman 21, Sunday Taiwo 21, and Jimoh Mutiu 39.


The Police Prosecutor, Jafani Muslim, told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 15, 2018, at 9:00am, at Station road, Osogbo, Osun state capital.


He said that the accused conspired among themselves and committed felony to wit shop breaking and stealing. The prosecution alleged that the accused broke and entered the shop of one Olamide Lawal and stole some carton of biscuits worth N6million. 

According to the charge sheet, the alleged offence was contrary to section 413 and 414 and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol 11, law of Osun State, 2003.  Counsel to the accused, Mr Okobie Najite, urged the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal term. 

 The Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison  custody and directed the Counsel to approach the court with formal application for bail of his client.


The Magistrate thereby adjourned the case to February 17, 2019, for mention.
