APC may postpone Buhari’s primary election

Barring any last minute change in plan, the ruling All Progressives Congress may hold its presidential primaries earlier slated for Thursday, September 20th on Wednesday, September 26.
A senior member of the party last night confided in Blueprint that the decision to shift the primary timetables formed part of the outcome of yesterday’s meeting of the National Working Committee of the party.
According to the source, the party was waiting to confirm the convenience of the new dates with President Muhammadu Buhari before its official announcement.
Blueprint learnt that the revised timetable being proposed by the party will begin with screening of House of Assembly aspirants which will take place from 19th to 21st of September at various state capitals, while screening of all other aspirants is to hold from 19th to 21st of September at Abuja.
With regard to schedule for party primaries, it said presidential primaries will now hold on September 26, followed by governorship primary which is being planned to hold on September 29.
The new dates for the Senatorial and House of Representatives, according to the source, are October 2nd and October 3rd respectively while the National Convention of the party is billed to take place at the Eagle Square on October 6.
Several efforts made to speak with the acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, were unsuccessful.
In the old timetable signed by its National Organising Secretary, Emma Ibediro, the party also fixed the governorship primary for September 25, Senate and House Representatives aspirants was to hold on September 27 and 29, respectively
