Ex-Gov Nyako’s wife laid to rest

The remains of former Adamawa state first lady and wife of ex-Governor Murtala Nyako, Hajiiya Zainab Nyako has been laid to rest in Yola amid tears by family members, friends and political associates of the former governor .
The funeral prayers for the deceased first lady was conducted at the Yola resident of Admiral Nyako about 2.15 pm and was immediately buried at the family grave yard within the compound, according to Islamic rites.
The funeral prayer was attended by mammoth crowd from all walks of life, who came to identify with the former governor and the family over the loss.
Late Zainab Nyako died on Tuesday night after she collapsed in the house and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola where she gave up the ghost.
The deceased was born in 1955 and is survived by her husband, former Governor Murtala Nyako, six children, many grand children among other relatives. She will be remember for her pet project, the Women Empowerment Education Initiative (WEEIN) which brought succour to women, children and the less privileged, which she nursed even after leaving office as first lady.
