Illegal miner nabbed in Ondo

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps [NSCDC], Ondo state Command, has nabbed an illegal miner in the state
Parading the suspect and other criminal elements indulging in cannabis business at the headquarters of the command recently, Commandant of the Corps in the state, Mr. Pedro Ideba, said the illegal miner, Nwankwo was arrested in Laoso village in Ondo West Local Government Area, while searching for amethyst, beryl, tourmaline, emerald, black tourmaline and iron ore, some of which are used for making jewelries.
The commandant said, “he presented a fake certificate of registration and claimed to have got permission to explore the solid minerals from the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources under the Ministry of Agriculture in Ondo state instead of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development that has the sole right to regulate mining activities and grant such permission.”
He therefore urge the residents to cooperate with government to flush out criminals from Ondo state, saying that NSCDC is carrying out investigation to fish out others involved in unlawful activities
