‘88 Kano women’re political office holders under Ganduje’

No fewer than 88 women have been appointed into political offi ces in Kano under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has disclosed.
The governor made the disclosure yesterday while signing into law the state’s water, sanitation and hygiene law, noting that the effort in conjunction with the 44 local government councils was to enable the women function side by side with their men counterparts.
The governor further added that the APC administration under his leadership will always come up with policies and programmes that will create employment, reduce cases of theft and armed robbery and also create conducive atmosphere for the populace to feel the impact of democracy.
Similarly, according to the governor, who was commissioner for works under the military administration of Brigadier Dominic Oneya, said to strategically improve women participation in politics and governance, he has ordered all the 44 local government chairmen in the state to appoint women as supervisory counselors to man the new departments which he directed them to create to take care of sanitation, hygiene and order human health related matters.
His government, according to him, will give women more opportunities to prove their mettle in contributing the development of society, insisting that they needed to carry women along for the overall development of Kano, the North and Nigeria in general.
