At least 623 workers in Ekiti state public service will benefit from car loans recently approved by the state governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.
The state commissioner for finance, Chief Toyin Ojo, who made the disclosure in Ado-Ekiti, said the loans, which ranged from N80,000 to N1.5 million, was approved depending on the salary grade level of the benefiting officers.
Stressingthe commitment of the Fayose-led administration to the welfare of workers in the state civil service, the commissioner stated that the loan was to be disbursed in one single tranche to the benefiting officers.
The Commissioner promised that another batch of beneficiaries of the workers car loan will be announced before the end of this year.
In another development, Ekiti state Commissioner for Environment , Hon Bisi Kolawole has warned people of the state against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and waste into drainages, canals and river channels in order to avert flooding and other natural disasters
The commissioner who gave the warning at a forum in Ado-Ekiti said anyone caught violating the state health and environmental laws would be severely sanctioned
Urging the people of the state to complement government’s efforts at ridding the state of filth, diseases as well as natural and man-made disasters, the commissioner said officers and men of the state Environmental, Health and Sanitation Department of his ministry, had been fully mobilised to apprehend and prosecute anyone found violating the state environmental laws.
He urged people of the state capital to promptly report anyone found dumping refuse or waste into the newly dredged channels as well as newly constructed drainages .
