100 days: Bala has nothing to show–Group

A political group in Bauchi syate known as ‘Bauchi Advocates of Good Governance’ (BAGG) has criticised the performance of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration in the state led by Governor Bala Mohammed alleging that he failed to redeem his promises for the first 100 days.

The group in a press release issued by its Chairman, Comrade Sadiq Musa, Wednesday alleged that Bala had during electioneering campaign promised to settle outstanding gratuities of pensioners within the first 100 days pointing out that after assuming office, the governor only released the sum of N200 million out of the N27 billion gratuities needed to settle the retirees.

According to him, the neighboring Gombe State has earmarked the sum of N1.1 billion for payment of gratuities lamenting that the money disbursed by the Bauchi State government for gratuities was too little.

Musa also decried that the governor promised during campaign to conduct election for local governments but failed to redeem the pledge and went ahead to appoint Caretaker Chairmen for the councils.

“It is unfortunate that politicians would be making rash promises during campaigns and later decline to fulfill them. It is also disappointing that his Excellency, Bala Mohammed would tell the world during a Media chat to mark his 100 days that local government election will cost N2 billion. By saying that, he expressed non readiness to conduct local government election in the state.

“Why did he promise to do so in the first place and criticized  the former regime on the same issue? Was it just to woo voters? He should follow the path of honour by swinging into action to deliver good governance or else he will lose his respect in the eyes of the electorate”. He said.

He further added that with the way things are doing and the cloudy antecedents of Bala Mohammed, the state is experiencing a worst moment in history.
