The factional leadership of the Zamfara state House of Assembly under Speaker Bashir Aliyu Gummi, has condemned Governor Dauda Lawal, for allegedly abandoning his people amid rising insecurity in the state.
The speaker, who stated this at Thursday’s sitting, described as insensitive, callous and inhuman, the way and manner Governor Lawal abandoned his people in the hands of marauding bandits, adding that innocent communities were attacked within one week.
The communities attacked included the Jangebe area of Talata-Mafara, where hundreds of people were abducted and others killed. Damri area of Bakura local government and Kyambarawa in Kaura Namoda local areas as well as Mada in Gusau local government which were also attacked.
“On Sunday, hundreds of innocent people were abducted, others were killed. The same thing happened in Bungudu local government along Yarkatsina, where innocent people were killed and in Kyambarawa area of Kaura Namoda, where hundreds were abducted and others killed.
“To the dismay of the House, the governor didn’t even commiserate with the victims nor send any relief to the affected families. He rather proceeded on his annual leave with no concern or sympathy to our electorate,” the factional speaker said.
