World Bank, FDA, state commence construction of rural roads in Adamawa

The World Bank, in collaboration with the state government and French Development Agency, have commenced the construction of 341.4 kilometres rural roads in the three senatorial districts of Adamawa the state.
The construction work is under the Rural Access And Mobility Project (Ramp) and is a joint ventures between the state government and some development partners expected to gulf the sum of $50 million with Adamawa state government paying a counterpart funds of $3.2 million.
The breakdown of the projects shows that, the central senatorial district of the state would benefit from four roads totalling 59.9 kilometres starting from Labondo to Borrong, while at the other hand, the northern senatorial district would benefit from five roads totalling 73.2 kilometres.
In the same way, five roads would be constructed and rehabilitated in the southern senatorial district totalling 70.3 kilometres, while the remaining 140kilometres and 16 river crossing shall be executed under the Phase 11.

Speaking at the flag-off of the projects at the weekend, Governor Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla, reiterated the commitments of his administration to construct and rehabilitated both urban and rural roads in the state.
According to him, his government would not failed the people of Adamawa but will provide basic infrastructures and improved the leaving conditions of the people.
He decried the state of roads in most part of the state and charged the contractors to execute the projects according to specification warming that the state government would not hesitate to revoke any contract awarded if poorly execute
The governor further explained that if completed the projects will link rural communities to other parts of the state and enable farmers to transport their farm produce to urban centres in addition to providing employment opportunities to the teeming youths in the state.
