Wada appeals to FG on Lokoja

Kogi state governor, Captain Idris Wada, has appealed to the federal government to place Lokoja, the state capital, “in its rightful position as the first capital of Nigeria.”

Wada made the appeal yesterday during a special plenary session in the House of Assembly to mark the centenary celebration of the country.

The governor, who commended the leadership and members of the House for passing a motion in respect of the centenary, urged the federal government to accord the state its rightful position and partner with the state to explore the tourism potentials of Kogi state.
On the potential of Mount Patti, Wada said the only way to tap the potential was through Public Private Partnership (PPP), and charged the House to expedite action on the PPP bill.

Earlier, the speaker, Rt. Hon. Momoh Jimoh, said the country had come a long way since the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates in 1914.
He commended past and present leaders of the state for their “unity of purpose that today has translated into the development of Kogi state.”
