Redefine leadership, Ezekwesili tells APC leaders

— Berates centenary awards

Former Vice President of the World Bank and former Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) to redefine leadership system in the country, saying the present situation questions the country’s unity country.

Ezekwesili said this yesterday as the keynote speaker at the National Summit organised by the APC to unveil its roadmap, in Abuja.

“Nigeria does not have party problem but political elites’ problem,” she said. “Citizens are saying to you that you must redefine what leadership entails to move a country forward with character, attribute and capacity.”
The former minister, who was also a co-founder of Transparency International based in Berlin, said it was true that the country’s economy was growing, but without corresponding effects on the lives of Nigerians.

On the recent centenary celebration and award, the former minister said Nigeria has not gotten anything to celebrate.
She said: “I am aware that some of you went to collect centenary awards. If truth be told, we don’t have anything to celebrate.

She suggested that the foundation of the Nigeria needed to be discussed, stressing that “Nigeria has a structural problem and the structural foundation problem must be solved or else changing names of political party and momentum that created the problem will not solve the problem.”
