Troops recover arms, arrest suspects in Bayelsa

The Nigerian Army said yesterday that troops in Bayelsa state recovered a large cache of arms and arrested one suspect during a raid operation along Agbura Otueke, Ogbia local government area.
Army spokesperson, Brigadier Genneral Texas Chukwu said the troops also recovered large cache of arms and ammunition while conducting a search in the house of a suspected militant, Mr.
Emmanuel Lawson, alias “General”, who is at large.
He said: “However, his accomplice, Mrs.
Ebikaboere Emmanuel was arrested.
Efforts are on to track the suspect with all his accomplices.” Chukwu disclosed that other items recovered during the operation include: two G3 rifles, two AK47 rifles, two Baretta pistol, four AK47 magazines, two G3 rifle magazine, and 11 Cartridges.
Others, according to him, are: 325 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, two rounds of 7.62mm Nat ammunition, two portraits, one military Police General Duty Belt, one Military Police anklet, and one hand glove.
Chukwu assured residents of Bayelsa state that the Nigerian Army is committed to protecting lives and property of the citizens
