Tornadoes mgt unveils new coach promises team’s return to Minna

The management of Niger Tornadoes Fc of Minna has unveiled the immediate past Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Coach Hamza Abdulazeez Abara, as the Technical Adviser of the Minna-based club.

In his remarks during the unveiling, the Permanent Secretary, state ministry of sports development, Mallam Nuhu Garba Ngaski, said it will work closely with the management of the club to relocate the team to Minna for its home matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Permanent Secretary who performed the unveiling of the new technical adviser, carried out his first official function after taking over the ministry on Tuesday.

He disclosed that he had been briefed on so many issues concerning the team and that the ministry in collaboration with the management of the club were already putting some machineries in place to ensure that the team return to Minna for its league matches.

He said he had heard alot concerning how the club was run in the past, but preached decorum among stakeholders, expressing optimism that with patience, unity and cohesion, the team will go places and achieve alot.

Mallam Ngaski said he does not tolerate sentiment, backbiting and hypocrisy and that whatever issue that comes up should be channeled properly and to the appropriate authority.

He also urged all stakeholders of the club to rally round the new management and the technical crew, as well as pray for the success of the team, promising that the ministry will give every support to ensure success.

He added that there was a new government in the state which is doing its best to project Niger state in all ramifications, including in the sports industry, hence the composition of the an indigenous technical crew.

Similarly, the Director of sports in the ministry, Baba Sheshi Katcha, said he was happy that the new technical adviser is an indigine of the state, adding that it was high time they start engaging their own to showcase their technical prowess to the outside.

Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chairman of the club, Engr. Ibrahim Dada Maikunkele, introduced all members of the technical crew of the main team and the feeder team to the permanent secretary and informed him that the technical crew of the under 15 team will soon be set up when the team’s programme is set to commence.

He disclosed that Coach Abara was engaged for an initial one year contract which is renewable at the end of the contract base on performance satisfaction, and that all the monetory entitlement of the Coach as well as accomodation and official car had been spelt out in the contractual agreement.

Engr. Dada also solicited for the support and prayers of all stakeholders to enable the team succeed.

Coach Abara who was earlier linked to take over Gombe united said being at the helms of affairs in Tornadoes was more of home coming to him having been there before on an acting capacity and that as an indigene, Tornadoes Fc was a familiar terrain.

The Coach who once had a nine match unbeaten with the team in an acting capacity in the past said he was not going to promise anything specifically, but assured the management and soccer loving Nigerlites that he will definitely add value to the team.
