Tinubu inherited 36, 000km roads, constructed 4 coastal others – Goronyo

As part of efforts to better the lives of Nigerians, open up rural communities and boost economic activities, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has awarded contract for the construction of 4 coastal roads involving trillions of naira, the Minister of State for Works, Mohammed Bello Goronyo, has said.

The minister, who stated this in a chat with newsmen in Sokoto also said the president inherited 36,000 kilometers of road projects across Nigeria.

He said President Tinibu is doing his best to complete such road projects before the end his first tenure.

Goronyo noted that some of the roads have been in dilapidated conditions for over 40 years since their construction and asphalt roads last for no more than 15 years.

The minister acknowledged that the inherited roads were in poor condition.

He highlighted President Tinubu’s efforts to address the issue, particularly with the recent re-award of the contract for reconstructions of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, expected to be completed within 14 months.

“Upon completion, these roads are projected to last for 50 years, thanks to the use of rigid concrete and a more expensive, but durable construction method.

“This project complements the ongoing reconstruction of the Sokoto-Gusau-Zaria road, also using concrete,” the minister stated.

Goronyo praised President Tinubu’s initiative in engaging various stakeholders, including the Army, Police, DSS, and other security agencies, to tackle insecurity.

He stated that the collaborative approach has significantly reduced insecurity incidents in some areas.
