Senator Bello Mandiya is a serious representative from Katsina South Senatorial District at the Senate, whose name in Funtua Local Government in particular, and the senatorial district in general, would be written in gold. This is because of his courage, foresight and determination to ensure that he succeeds. Hence, he has extended his hand of friendship to his colleagues at the upper chamber for his pet project to sail through at the Senate.

That was what actually transpired when he presented a bill for the establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture and Technology in Funtua, headquarters of his senatorial district in Katsina state. From the 1st and 2nd readings of the bill at the Senate plenary, he was able to convince his colleagues about the desirability of siting the proposed university in Funtua, and this led to a successful public hearing.

The public hearing was well organised and attended by all stakeholders of his constituency. The third reading took place after the TETFUND Committee had done its assignment. All these happened in 36 days. The stage is now set for the House of Representatives to complete the process by concurring with the Senate’s passage of the bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Funtua. We thank Allah SWT for blessing Funtua with elder statesmen at the national level like Malam Ismaila Isa Funtua, Alhaji Umaru Abdulmutallab, and Prof. Haruna Usman Sanusi.
