LaLiga side Sevilla have announced the termination of Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract, making the 28-year-old forward a free agent.
The decision, revealed in a brief statement on transfer deadline day, opens the door for Iheanacho to join a new club this summer.
Meanwhile, Scottish champions Celtic are keen to sign Iheanacho. Manager Brendan Rodgers, who previously coached him at Leicester City, is reportedly eager to reunite with the forward following the club’s sale of Adam Idah to Swansea City for £6 million.
Celtic had also been pursuing Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana, but the Ivorian is now set to move on loan to Charlton Athletic, clearing the way for potential negotiations with Iheanacho.
