Security, welfare of corps members our priority – Aliyu

Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state has said that his administration would continue to give top most priority to the welfare and security of corps members in the state.

Aliyu stated this yesterday at the closing ceremonies of the 2014 Batch A Orientation course in the state.
Aliyu, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Joshus Bawa, cautioned the corps members against unnecessary travels which, he said, in the past had accounted for many accidents.

He said: “You must ensure that you travel only when it’s absolutely necessary and only when you are duly permitted. You must realise that the nation and your parents need you, having invested so much in your training and upbringing.
“Niger state has been adjudged as the most peaceful, accommodating and hospitable state in the country.”
Aliyu directed that the National Youth Service Corps Committees in the 25 local government areas of the state be re-invigorated to make them more functional.

He said the revival of the NYSC committees would enable them to meet the welfare needs of youth Corps members deployed to the state.
“Our state is a mini Nigeria where indigeneship syndrome does not exist. This you must have experienced from your host community which has played host to NYSC for many years.

“You, therefore, have a moral duty to accept your postings in good faith and be prepared to contribute your quota to elevate the standard of lives in the rural communities.”

The state Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs Andriya, said over 1450 deployed to the state for Batch A service year took part in the orientation programme
She expressed gratitude to the Niger state government the security agencies for the support given to the scheme which had made the programme a huge success.
