SDP’s Dogara is Plateau state IPAC chairman

The new elected chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Platrau state, Hon Abubakar Dogara, has assured members of credible leadership.

Dogara, who is also the state chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), said in press statement, Thursday, that the state chapter of IPAC, would soon implement programmes that would make it be “best among equals,” in the country.

“It is in the interest of IPAC that we are going to focus on the following activities in order to compete with other state chapters or even be the first among equals with respect to political stability and innovation on the Plateau state that will be the envy of other state chapters.”

He assured that the chapter would hold periodic capacity building trainings for all IPAC members in the state, conduct elections for local government chapters of IPAC in all the 17 local governments of Plateau state, as provided for by the IPAC Code of Conduct, ensures consistent observance of democratic principles, through free, fair and credible local government elections in Plateau state.

“Welfare of all IPAC members shall be improved through the establishment of IPAC Corporative Society. Advising the Government and all other relevant stakeholders on the need to put the interest of the state first before any other interest,” he said.

Dogara said they would liaise with the government to see that IPAC has permanent secretariats in all the 17 local governments of the state, and advised the government to provide permanent seats for IPAC in the state executive council and to provide rooms in all MDAs in the state for IPAC to give voluntary services for the state and put in place standing committees to run concurrently with their elected executive Council.

He appreciated the chairmen of all the registered political parties in the state for vesting their trust in them, assuring them of equity and fairness irrespective of party differences.
