Rivers: FRSC denies collecting money for vehicle licenses, particulars

Rivers state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Christopher Kuje, has debunked allegation that the agency was collecting money from members of the public for licenses and vehicle particulars.

Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Wednesday, the Sector Commander said his sector does not engage in the collection of money for the processing of vehicle particulars and licenses of motorists and other members of the public.

Kuje, while urging members of the public to discountenance claims and false allegations that the agency collects money for processing vehicle particulars and licenses, said the core responsibility of his sector is designing vehicle licenses and printing.

He, therefore, advised members of the public seeking vehicle particulars and licenses to ensure that only his officers on uniforms attend to them, stressing that very stiff penalties are often meted out to FRSC officers and men found culpable.

Kuje further clarified that the FRSC has nothing to do with the collection of money to process vehicle particulars and licenses for members of the public, insisting, however, that there exists a tripartite agreement between the agency; the Rivers State Board of lnternal Revenue and the Vehicle lnspection Officer (VlO) on matters relating to procurement of vehicle particulars and licenses.

In his words: “We work together to achieve a common purpose. We are not interested in collecting money.

“We don’t collect money and we don’t area boys working with us.”

He reassured members of the public that his sector would continue to maintain and keep to its ethical standards in serving them, urging them to keep faith with the agency.
