Euro 2024: England caged, Spain hit knockout

England put up a poor display as they were held to a 1- 1 draw by Denmark in their Group C encounter on Thursday.

The Three Lions missed the chance to book their place in the knockout stage following the stalemate.

Gareth Southgate’s side took the lead through Harry Kane in the 18th minute.

Kyle Walker’s deflected shot fell to the captain, who slotted the ball into the net.

They failed to press home their advantage afterwards.

A sloppy throw-in 16 minutes later allowed Morten Hjulmand to equalise for Denmark.

England remain on top of Group C on four points, while Denmark are second on two after Slovenia’s 1-1 draw with Serbia earlier.

Earlier, Riccardo Calafiori’s second-half own goal earned dominant Spain a 1-0 victory over defending champions Italy last night to qualify for the last 16 of Euro 2024 as Group B winners.
