Rashford: Another injury blow for Manchester United

Marcus Rashford may have been injured by Trent Alexander-Arnold as England beat Malta 2-0 on Friday, as he was substituted after the accidental clash.

The England striker was hauled off immediately after a clash with Alexander-Arnold. The two players both attempted to control the same ball but the Liverpool defender was sprinting, and clattered into his team-mate, leaving Rashford needing help from the Three Lions physios. He was subbed immediately.

United have a variety of injury issues and are dealing with the fact that Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Rasmus Hojlund are all currently in the treatment room. Adding Rashford to that list would be a significant blow.

Rashford has been in dismal form for United this season and has only managed one goal and three assists in all competitions. Still, he has started every game when fit, and losing him would be a headache for manager Erik ten Hag.

He will be assessed and is likely to be rested against North Macedonia on Monday, with England having already qualified for next season’s tournament. United will be keeping a close eye on developments.
