Police seal off Jigawa APC secretariat over crisis

Policemen Monday condoned-off the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa state, following leadership tussle that has torn the party apart.

All roads leading to the state party secretariat were blocked and cordoned off by the police led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

It would be recalled that the embattled state APC acting chairman, Alhaji Habibi Sara, was alleged to have fallen out of favour with Governor Abubakar Bagudu which led to his suspension by the party.

The suspended party chairman has, however, declared that his suspension null and void, adding that the party’s constitution was not followed before the action was taken against him.

Insinuations have emerged that the suspension of the APC acting chairman might not be unconnected with politics of 2023 as he is reportedly rooting for a particular candidate for the governorship elections.

He is also alleged to have revealed sensitive and top party strategies and matters to people he was accused of fronting for.

However, the state public relations officer of the party, Alhaji Nasuru Jahun, who confirmed the suspension of Alhaji Habibi Sara, told our reporter that the caucus and top party officials were holding meetings before making the matter public.
