Borno state Police Command on Saturday said it had rescued a 50-year-old man, Abatcha Ayuba, of Damaram ward in Nganzai local government area of Borno state, from Boko Haram terrorists.
The Command said it also recovered over 150 cattle from rustlers who disguised as herdsmen at Gajiram in the same Nganzai local government area after an attack on the village.
The Borno state Police Commissioner, Mr. Damian Chukwu, disclosed this while briefing Journalist of his achievements within his 22 days of assumption of Office in the state.
Chukwu said based on intelligent report by a good citizen of Nganza local government area that that Boko Haram insurgents attacked Damaran Village and abducted one Abacha Ayuba, male, aged 50, his men swung into action and gave the insurgents a hot chase together with some civilian JTF, and engaged the terrorist in a fierce gun battle where the captive was rescued unhurt.
“The police recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with breech number 070015 with 3 rounds of live ammunition and an empty ammunition Chain. Also rescued unhurt was the abductee, Abatcha Ayuba.
“Similarly, following a distress call that some cattle rustlers attacked a nearby village and carted away some cattle, the Police also responded and gave the rustlers a chase and in the process, they abandoned the cattle which are over 150 and escaped as the animals were recovered.”
He appealed to the general public to assist security agencies in the state with useful information on any criminal activities as well as unusual movements of persons in and out of their communities.
